SANTAS GROTTO RAISES £431 FOR CHARITY

For the last five years Thornbury Lions Club have been provided with a shop In St Mary’s centre in Thornbury for a Grotto for Father Christmas to visit.  These visits take place on the four Saturdays leading up to Christmas.

The Centre staff build the Grotto and provide the presents to give to the children. The Lions arrange for Santa to be sure to be there!!

The children and their parents are given the opportunity to have a chat with Santa who then gives the children a balloon and a present.

A small charge is made and the money raised is donated by the Lions to local children’s charities. These charities have included Children’s Hospice South West, CLIC and for 2018 The Jessie May Trust,  a charity providing respite care for terminally ill children, for which £431 was raised.

Terry Hunt, of Thornbury Lions Club, further commented that he would like to thank the St Mary Centre staff for all of their hard work in setting up the grotto and organising the gifts.
